What’s better than living in the West Indies? I consider nature’s little secret, the British Virgin Islands a place I can call home. I grew up on the biggest island in the BVI, Tortola from the age of thirteen to seventeen. The clear tropical waters, beautiful flora and fauna and amazing architecture made me feel like I was living a dream. Surprisingly, during all my years living in the British Virgin Islands I’ve never been to the famous Baths on Virgin Gorda.
Last weekend my family, friends and I finally decided to take a day trip to Virgin Gorda. We took the ferry, Speedy’s, from Tortola to Virgin Gorda early Sunday morning so that we would be able to have a long, adventurous day. The boat ride was very smooth and lasted for approximately fifteen minutes. I always heard that Virgin Gorda has five Suns and I thought that everyone was just exaggerating, but they were right! The crazy heat was the first thing I had noticed when I came off of the ferry.
We started off the adventure by renting a mini bus and making our way to the Baths, using a map. Virgin Gorda is a small island so you don’t have to worry about getting lost. The Baths is also just five minutes away from the ferry terminal.
Hungry? No problem. Before you take the trail to the Baths you can enjoy delicious cuisines from the Top Of The Baths restaurant and lounge. I have really been obsessed with sushi lately so I ordered a California Roll. It was delicious! The food and service at this restaurant was great!
After eating and enjoying the view at the restaurant, we began the trail to the Baths. If you’re a nature lover like I am you will definitely enjoy the trail. I nearly fell a few times but that did not stop me. There were so many butterflies and enormous boulders. I am convinced that Virgin Gorda has some of the largest boulders in the World.
If you are planning on visiting the Baths make sure your cameras are charged and get photoshoot ready! The beautiful scenery will make you want to capture every moment. The water was very calm, clear and warm. The Baths is just so perfect! My family, friends and I really enjoyed our day.
I’m grateful to live in paradise!
